About Culture & Arts

The Culture & Arts section of VitalPTBO takes a limited look at this sector in Peterborough.

It shows that the number of working artists working in our community has stayed more or less consistent since 2006, charitable giving to this sector has steadily gone up just as the number of actual donors has decreased. It also shows that the number of Canada Council for the Arts grants awarded to individual regional artists or arts organizations has also increased.

Not shown in this section is the number of working artists, or the number of arts groups, venues and festivals in the greater Peterborough region. The total economic contribution each of these aspects of the culture & arts community makes to the broader community is also not included.
